The SALEIE definition of an EIE programme

EIE Programmes are academic programmes that develop students for vocationally orientated careers. They typically involve conventional teaching activities (lectures, seminars, etc.); hardware and software laboratory activities, which expose students to components, equipment and practical methods; and periods of industrial experience, which expose students to and develop work readiness skills. Programmes typically develop: the technical knowledge and skills of the specific subject; a range of generic skills including personal and team effectiveness, project management, communication skills, creativity and problem solving; and may develop management skills appropriate for early career management positions.
