The following are the elements we consider to be relevant to the specification of a new academic programme. Of particular importance is the final section on special considerations.

University name:

Name of the Higher Education Institution offering the programme

Optional for within Institution programmes but important for programmes that can be taken by exchange students

 


Faculty / Department:

Name of the Faculty or Department offering the programme

Optional for within Institution programmes but important for programmes that can be taken by exchange students

 


Programme name:

The name within the offering Institution of the programme, this name should be unique within a Faculty or Department.

Required

 


Programme code:

A unique code for the programme within the Higher Education Institution offering the programme. This code is most likely to be how a student of academic colleague searches for the programme.

Contact person/lecturer(s):

The person who can be contacted for more information about the programme. For example the Programme Leader or Programme Diretor.

Academic level:

The academic level of the programme, for example Masters, Bachelor year 3, Bachelor year 2, Bachelor year 1, etc.

Credit Value:

The credit value of the programme in ECTS. If the local credit value is not equal to the ECTS value the equivalent or explanation of how to convert should be provided. Click here for a guide to the ECTS system.

List of all the modules associated with the programme, each should be identified by Module Title and Module Code.

Duration:

The normal duration of the academic programme in years.

A clear statement of the academic pre-requisites for students to take this programme, this should include, whare appropriate, the language proficiency.
