University of Malta

The University of Malta, is an autonomous state-funded higher educational institution, which comprises 10 faculties, a number of interdisciplinary institutes and centres.  The university also home the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) and the IOI International Ocean Institute Malta Operational Centre. As part of the University of Malta, the Foundation for International Studies runs the Future Generations Programme, the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Insular Coastal Dynamics and the Islands and Small States Institute.

The University of Malta is currently the only tertiary level education accredited institute in Malta. The main emphasis is on undergraduate level education, but it also runs programmes leading to a Masters and Doctoral level.  Currently, the University population is about 11000 students, of which 1300 are following a postgraduate programme and 600 full-time academic staff; 550 administrative staff.
