Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble

The Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, France (UJF) was founded in its present form in 1971, but the history of Grenoble’s university dates back to 1339. A research-intensive university offering programmes in science, technology and medicine, Université Joseph Fourier currently comprises over 17 000 full-time students of which 20% are in graduate studies.

4500 academics, researchers, administrative and technical staff collaborate in over 100 research laboratories the majority of which are associated directly with national and international research organisations present in Grenoble.

Foreign students represent 12% of the university’s total student population, but almost 30% in PhD programmes with some 100 nationalities represented on campus. Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees are delivered in all of the following areas: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Information Science; Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics; Life Sciences, Biology; Earth and Universe Science, Environment; Engineering; Medicine; Pharmacy; Geography, Regional planning and development; Sport Science.

Grenoble has a long history of scientific discovery and innovative research, most recently in the field of micro- and nanosciences and technologies and in Information Technologies.

University of Rennes 1

The University of Rennes 1, France is a pluridisciplinary University located in Brittany. This University is the main partner of “European University of Brittany”, a consortium of 11 academic Institutions in Brittany (West of France).

University of Rennes 1 has 23000 students in the field of Sciences (including Electrical and Information Engineering, Physics Chemistry, Earth, Biology), Health, Law, Economy and Philosophy.

1700 students enrolled at doctorate level are depending of the doctoral schools managed by the University. The University has been involved since many years in international cooperation’s as well in the fields of research activities as in pedagogical ones.

University of Bordeaux 1

The University of Bordeaux 1, France is situated in the Bordeaux suburb of Talence.  Its focus is on sciences and technologies.  These include, biological sciences, chemistry, computer sciences, earth sciences, mathematics, physics and sea sciences.  It has many important laboratories, including a neuroscience research center and a computer science research center.

University of Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier,

The University of Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier, France (UPS) . Since its creation in 1969, UPS has been expanding its offer of multidisciplinary education in the fields of science, health, engineering, technology and sports, developing one of the most important scientific research clusters in France. 

Centred on Toulouse, European space and aeronautics capital, UPS is a renowned European university with a global outlook. is the second largest scientific University in France and host each year around 27000 students (11000 graduations per year in average), supervised by approximately 2300 teachers-researchers. UPS is delivering around 500 PhD degrees every year.

UPS is part of “University of Toulouse” cluster. It is one of the 8 French Universities, which won “Initiative of Excellence” national Challenge. UPS is one of the leading French universities, in the quality of its teaching, the breadth of its scientific research and the number of students it attracts.

With university courses aligning with European harmonisation of qualifications, professional training attuned to the world of employment and proactive teaching strategies (supervision and tutorial, internships, professional prospects...), UPS is constantly innovating, bringing realism and ambition to the education it provides. Whatever field is chosen: core sciences, life sciences and health, technology, sports or human and social sciences, all courses are available full or part-time. Our University has strong activity in the domain of international relations.

First, in the domain of European programs (Erasmus students and teacher exchanges, Erasmus Mundus projects) Paul Sabatier University is partner of three masters Erasmus Mundus (Space Master, MESC, TCCM), and coordinator of an INTERREG IVB project and three Erasmus Mundus STRAND2 projects (NESSIE and TECHNO 1 & 2). UPS has more than 1000 cooperation agreements (especially and dual PhD degrees) worldwide.

University of Burgundy

The University of Burgundy, France (UB) offers academic and professional programs in all scientific disciplines, including the health sciences.

The university is composed of 22 units-11 academic faculties, 4 schools of engineering, and 7 institutes, including 1 devoted to viticulture and oenology.

In the fields of this application, the PhD studies are organized in topical national Graduate Schools. The PhD students have personal study plans, a PhD supervisor throughout the process, and post-graduate courses.

The university has both International Office and International Student Services, and the international activities are based on a large number of cooperation agreements.

University Claude Bernard Lyon 1

The University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France (UCBL) is one of the largest scientific Universities of France. UCBL has 85 departments in fields such as Biology, Medicine, Material Science, Physics, Computing, Technical and Chemical Engineering. UCBL has a strong experience in current methods of embedding dialogue through the use of technology in teaching and learning.
